The Church teaches that parents are the primary teachers of the Faith to their children.

Because we honor this, we at MBS are committed to assisting both parents and children to grow in their faith life. The mission of the Parish School of Religion is to aide you in providing religious education for the age and maturity level of your children. Registration takes place on the first two weekends in August, after all in the Masses, in the St. John Room of the Church office (see information in the next column).

As you know, religious education and spiritual formation require more than a casual commitment if they are to be effective. For this reason, the Office of Christian Formation strongly encourages the following as a formula to ensure a foundation in our Catholic Faith.

When you sign the Registration Form, you make your commitment to and acknowledgment of these important criteria:

  1. Commitment to and registration in the MBS Parish Family.
  2. Regular attendance at Sunday Mass as a family.
  3. Completion of a Stewardship of Finance Card.
  4. Student attendance at religion classes. You will receive detailed information in the Elementary and High School Parent Newsletters which will be mailed to you before classes start in September.
  5. A commitment to family prayer.
  6. Involvement with parish ministry.
  7. A commitment to adult religious education through workshops and seminars offered by MBS Parish and the Diocese of Baton Rouge.
